Seems that theres no longer the need to two hand a weapon after every shield parry. Hurrah for 1 handing! qrqwqrqrq posted I think ripostes also ignore stat requirements, because I could do 200 damage with a bandits knife eventhough I am well under the dex requirement on my level 1 guy (Tho, I didn't really test this all that much, was more busy trying to fly).
Doing this would also probably warrant backstabs doing more damage, because otherwise it'd make more sense to just do your normal preferred weapon combo into an enemy's back. So basically a nerf to direct 1v1 battle backstabs, a buff to stealth/surprise backstabs, and a nerf to running away.
The only difference in damage 2handing a weapon will do is with regard to strength scaling, as you receive 1.5x strength when 2handing. So 2handing an elemental weapon (or something with zero strength scaling) will not increase the damage it does. 2handing does increase poise damage and often has a better move-set than 1handed attacks.
Can be given to Kingseeker Frampt to receive 50 Souls. Very similar to the normal Dagger. It deals slightly better critical hits and inflicts Bleed, but can only perform slashing attacks. Powerful weapon for Dexterity builds, elemental or not. With the 147 critical modifier, backstabs and ripostes will deal extremely high damage.
I back-stabbed someone mid cast, and it still managed to one-shot me. My butt is ON FIRE. WATAUGACJ 11 years ago #5. Demon Great Axe + Darkmoon Blade+3 + Power Within + Hornet Ring = 1hko. For your stats tho a +15 rapier with all the buffs might come close.
For Dark Souls on the PlayStation 3, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "SOOO Imagine theres NO BACKSTABS in Dark Souls" - Page 3.
At least that's how it worked in Demon's Souls, excluding the fatal upgrades, the DBS was king. It was pretty well accepted that a BS from it would empty the HP of any phantom. That is and isn't true, for the most part. Like was said earlier, the thrusting swords are negating armor in their backstabs/ripostes in ways that the other weapons are not.
Pivot backstabs aren't as bad because they are just so hard to get, but it's still sad to see it as such a jarring thing on both player's screens. Good video though, and I hope to see more content in the future, and hopefully we will fight someday on PS3 :)
